About Us
The Hal Henard A.C.C.E.S.S. (All Children Challenged &
Equipped for Success in School) after-school program has
two primary purposes. The first is to provide academic
assistance to those students in 2nd-5th grades who would
benefit from some added help in their academic subjects.
Our staff works to provide small group study sessions and
1:1 assistance.  The second purpose is to provide a variety
of enrichment activities that will be both enjoyable and
beneficial for the students we serve.  Sample activities in
which our children participate include Arts & Crafts, a variety
of music classes, scrapbooking, various health & wellness
activities, dance, cooking, computers, wrestling, gardening,
etc… There is something for every child’s unique interest in
the A.C.C.E.S.S program.  In addition to our traditional after-
school offerings, we have implemented the following
additional components to our program:

A.M. ACCESS
This is a morning program that operates from 7:00-8:00
A.M. and provides tutorial assistance to those students who
may need a little extra help in completing classroom
assignments and/or opportunities to strengthen skills in
academic areas of need.

A.M. ACCESS Accelerated Reading
This is a morning program that operates from 7:30-8:00
A.M.  The key focus of this program is to encourage our
students to use free morning time during bus duty as an
opportunity to earn Accelerated Reading  points by reading
books and taking  computerized quizzes.  The students can
ultimately cash their points in for a variety of prizes in our
school store.

Summer ACCESS
Our summer program seeks to target students who would
benefit both academically and socially from a curriculum that
is designed to reinforce previously learned concepts.
Furthermore, we strive to provide our children with unique
educational opportunities during the summer that would not
be feasible to offer during the traditional school year.  For
example, we teach the children about native wildlife and
outdoor safety which is followed up by a hike and picnic in
the Cherokee National Forest.
